Motion Computing Named a MoneyTree FutureCentric Company

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 21, 2005 – Motion Computing®, a leader in mobile computing technologies, today announced its inclusion on the MoneyTree™ FutureCentric list. This annual list is a compilation of the quarterly PricewaterhouseCoopers/Thomson Venture Economics/National Venture Capital Association MoneyTree™ Survey.

This national survey measures cash-for-equity investments by the professional venture capital community in private emerging companies. Motion was included in the first quarter 2005 survey for its $25 million third round of venture funding.

“Approximately 2,500 entrepreneurial companies will get venture capital backing in 2005,” said Kirk Walden, PricewaterhouseCoopers national director of venture capital research. “For its annual FutureCentric list, PricewaterhouseCoopers narrows that field to approximately sixty companies it believes typify future trends that will become a routine part of our business or personal lives. This year’s FutureCentric sub-set offers a unique glimpse into the shape of things to come.”

“These sixty FutureCentric companies are a relevant slice of the technologies and services that change people’s lives,” said Scott Eckert, Motion CEO. “Motion has earned a reputation for developing superior mobile computing products, and we’ll keep pushing the industry with our innovation and brand leadership.”

In 2005, Motion added to its history of product innovation and sales success with two new tablet PCs, the award-winning Motion LE1600 and LS800, and a wide array of mobile accessories and peripherals for each. Motion’s established base of top-tier customers in healthcare, field sales and service, education and other vertical markets expanded with these new products.

With these accomplishments, Motion has grown dramatically in the U.S. and Europe. According to International Data Corporation’s (IDC) PC Tracker results, Motion surpassed all competitors in slate tablet PC market share in Q3 2005.

Motion’s $25 million Series C financing was funded by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), New Enterprise Associates (NEA), SVB Capital, and Motion Series A and B investors, including Austin-based G-51 Capital. Motion Computing closed $6.5 million in Series A funding in August 2002 and $11.2 million in Series B funding in November 2003.
