Motion Tablet PCs Fill CRM Need for DENTSPLY Caulk

Division of No. 1 Dental Supply Manufacturer Empowers Sales Force with Ultra Mobile Computing to Enhance Customer Relationship Management Capabilities

Austin, Texas, Feb. 28, 2005 – DENTSPLY Caulk, a division of the world’s largest manufacturer of professional dental products, DENTSPLY International ( NASDAQ:XRAY ), has standardized on slate tablet PCs from Motion Computing™. The decision to outfit its sales force with ultra mobile computing technology fulfills DENTSPLY Caulk’s vision of delivering on an ambitious customer relationship management (CRM) plan to provide total access to current, accurate and complete customer information at all times.

DENTSPLY Caulk replaced conventional IBM ThinkPad notebooks used by its sales force with 135 of Motion’s most advanced ink-enabled tablet PCs, the M1400 with View Anywhere™ display technology for indoor-outdoor viewing.

“We’ve investigated ultra mobile computing technologies for years, but felt nothing has been robust enough until now,” said Ryan Downard, sales services manager for Milford, Del.-based DENTSPLY Caulk. “The initial response from our sales team to the tablets has been outstanding – a standing ovation.”

Downard explained that the sales representatives, who have between 700 and 2,000 customers each, rely on the field-tested performance, versatility and ultra mobility of the clipboard-sized Motion tablet PCs to drive improved communication with the home office via DENTSPLY Caulk’s LiNX CRM software. LiNX is a suite of in-house written applications for tasks such as customer profiling, competitive analysis and territory routing. Downard added that plans also call for using tablet PCs for sales training.

“Slate tablet PCs enable field sales and service representatives to use mobile technology during the sales call to increase their effectiveness ,” said Ralph Spagnola, Motion’s vice president of sales. “We expect more industry leaders like DENTSPLY Caulk to make ultra mobile computers an integral part of their customer relationship management initiatives.”
