AUSTIN, Texas, Feb 12, 2007 – Motion Computing®, a leader in ultra-mobile computing and wireless communications, today announced the addition of a new member to its executive leadership team. Nigel Owens has joined the company as vice president and general manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). As GM, Owens is responsible for all Motion™ business in EMEA including sales, service, support and marketing.
Motion currently sells product in 24 countries worldwide, including 19 across EMEA (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia).
“Our EMEA business is strategically important to Motion,” said Scott Eckert, Motion president and CEO. “We have a significant opportunity to grow our presence outside of the U.S. – we have twice the market share in the U.S. as we have in EMEA, against the same major competitors. Owens joins Motion from Fujitsu Siemens where he most recently ran sales in EMEA, focusing on Fujitsu’s tablet business in that region. Prior to that, he ran Fujitsu Personal Systems business in Northern Europe and sales in EMEA.
Before joining Fujitsu, Owens was responsible for sales at Husky Computers, a European manufacturer of rugged computers.
